Jennifer Lopez has canceled her upcoming summer North American tour, which would have been her first in five years, just weeks before it was set to begin.
The pop star announced the cancellation on Friday in her On The JLo fan newsletter.
The newsletter stated that Live Nation representatives announced today the cancellation of the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour ‘THIS IS ME…LIVE,’ citing that Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.
Following this, Lopez included a personal note titled, “A Special Message to My JLovers OnTheJLo.”
“I am truly heartbroken and devastated to disappoint you. Please understand that I wouldn’t make this decision if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. I promise to make it up to you, and we will reunite again,” Lopez wrote. “I love you all deeply. Until next time…”
Lopez’s first show was scheduled for June 26 in Orlando, Florida.
Announcement Follows Previous Tour Date Cancellations
The announcement comes weeks after several tour dates were canceled without explanation. According to Ticketmaster, Lopez’s scheduled performances in Nashville, Tennessee; New Orleans; Raleigh, North Carolina; Atlanta; Houston; Cleveland; and Tampa, Florida were called off.
“Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event,” reads the message on Ticketmaster for these canceled shows.
This Is Me… Live was intended to be a 30-date arena tour featuring Lopez’s biggest hits like “On The Floor,” “Let’s Get Loud,” and “Jenny from the Block.” Her previous tour in 2019, the It’s My Party tour, sold out venues across the country.
The tour was intended to promote her new album, “This is Me … Now,” which was released in February and accompanied by an Amazon Prime musical film, “This is Me … Now: A Love Story.”
Earlier this year about “This is Me … Now” potentially being her final album, Lopez said, “This was going to be the quintessential thing I have been searching for and wanted to say about love.”
“I’ve been searching for so long, ever since people first got to know me when my debut album was released, and even earlier with my first movie role. I’ve been on this journey, trying to understand it all for myself. This album, in a way, completes that journey,” she explained. “It encapsulates the moment where I can finally express my thoughts on love—that true love does exist and some things are eternal. Please don’t lose hope in that, because love is all that truly matters in life.”
Speculation About Marriage with Ben Affleck
Lopez’s announcement also comes amid speculation about her nearly two-year marriage to Ben Affleck.
Following various media reports suggesting Lopez and Affleck may no longer be living together, the couple has faced increased scrutiny, with media focusing on their whereabouts and whether they are still wearing their rings.
On May 16, Lopez and Affleck were photographed together for the first time in over a month, both seen wearing their wedding rings.
The couple has been engaged twice: first in 2002 and then again in 2021. They married in a late-night ceremony in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, which Lopez described as “the best possible wedding we could have imagined.”
This is the second marriage for Affleck and the fourth for Lopez.
